Events Rescheduled for Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World

Two Benjamin Franklin events cancelled due to inclement weather have been rescheduled.

These events are the opening reception rescheduled for February 17 and "Show Me the Franklins" which will be held on March 10. For a listing of these and other upcoming programs see the dates below.

February 17, Thursday: Opening Reception rescheduled for 6-7 pm. Meet and greet the Reader's Theatre cast. Refreshments will be served: “Franklin in his Own Words” and Discussion, Civic Hall, 7 p.m.

The Readers' Theatre of American Literature, directed by Professor Allison Green, will present, "Franklin In His Own Words", followed by discussion led by Joan Getaz, Project Director for the Benjamin Franklin exhibit 

February 24, Thursday: "Franklin's Inventions and Discoveries" and Demonstration, Civic Hall - 7 p.m.

Mr. Keith Haines will present an illustrated talk, "Franklin's Inventions and Discoveries". Mr. Haines is retired from the History Department of the Cherry Hill Schools, and is a presenter at the Independence Park Institute.

February 25, Friday: Last day to see the exhibit!

January 18, Tuesday: Exhibit Opens at the Wolverton Library on the Blackwood Campus

In addition to the traveling exhibit, other artifacts related to Franklin and his time will be on display.

January 27, Thursday: Opening Reception & “Franklin in his Own Words”, Atrium 5-7 p.m.  Note: Opening Reception rescheduled to Thursday, February 17 at 6 pm.

Members of the Reader’s Theatre of American Literature will present a mini-version of “Franklin in his Own Words.”  Refreshments will be served

Celebrate the signing of the U.S. Constitution with a lecture on an iconic founding father, Ben Franklin, and a lecture on Presidential power, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Wednesday, September 15 - noon. Who was Ben Franklin? A look at one of America's most intriguing Founding Fathers. Speaker: Professor Donnie Hughes, History & Political Science Dept.

Thursday, September 16 - 1 p.m. The Divine Right of Presidency: Power, Privilege and Overreach in the Office of the President. Speaker: Professor Jo-Leo Carney-Waterton, Paralegal Studies Dept.

First Friday This Week: Time to Cite! NoodleBib Makes It Easy

Be sure to stop by the Wolverton Library on the Blackwood Campus this Friday, April 2, between 1 and 3 p.m. to learn how NoodleBib can help you to avoid plagiarism by creating accurate citations for your research projects. Neglecting to cite sources, or incorrect citations, can ruin your grade on an otherwise acceptable project.

NoodleBib is based on the latest editions of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers and the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association. It is available on the library website. Using it from college workstations on the campuses is seamless. From home you will be prompted for your library card number.

 

The library also offers an online guide to NoodleBib, found by clicking on 'Citing Sources (NoodleBib)' in the left side navigation bar. Although NoodleBib provides good instructions, the library guide describes how to get started, the process of generating citations, how to manipulate and use the citation list that NoodleBib creates, and offers additional tips on using NoodleBib as well as links to other citation and writing guides, and guides to recognizing and avoiding plagiarism.

 

Those who attend First Fridays this semester (this is the last one!) may enter a drawing for a Bookstore gift card.

Last Chance On Campus to see The Grapes of Wrath: For Voices

 

 Don’t miss seeing The Grapes of Wrath, adapted for Readers’ Theatre by Prof. Allison Green. The last on-campus performance of this compelling work will be Tuesday, April 13, 7 p.m. at Wolverton Library, Blackwood Campus, in observance of National Library Week. Plan now to bring your lawn chair or blanket to the outdoor screening of the film version of The Grapes of Wrath, starring Henry Fonda, in the Truman Courtyard, Blackwood Campus, Saturday, June 5, at 9 p.m. (rain date June 6). If you’d rather see your movies in a theater, make a note of the indoor screening on Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. This will be followed by a discussion led by Prof. Matthew Sorrento.

The library staff have enjoyed partnering with Readers’ Theatre on this Big Read project this year and look forward to future collaborations.

‘First Fridays’ @ Wolverton - You're Invited!
